Step by Step

Step 1

Step 1
All the tiles must be taken out, if not this will show – the tiles will not sit straight or buckle as we pull them down at the end of the job. All tiles must be pushed back as work can be carried out easier and we can see how badly the felt has worn or if there is any damage to the timber joints.

Step 2

Step 2
Cut back at least 3 inches of felt – this will take the frayed, damaged felt away and gives a tidy line in which our eaves guard will slot underneath. If the felt is slightly damaged, we will repair this for free but in some cases we have had to take back tiles and re-felt and after the first meter, this will come as an extra charge but its up to you as the customer to agree if you are happy with the work to be carried out.

Step 3

Step 3
All old fascias and soffits will be taken down and the timber joists will be de-nailed. Also the felt will be patched up where it is possible as seen on the picture below.

Step 4

Step 4
Two UPVC props will be set level at each side and secured to the joists with screws with a 9mm gap between the brickwork and our prop. This allows the soffit to slot in-between the two and clamp down the back and sit neatly on to the bricks. We use UPVC props for this job for the simple fact that it doesn’t rot so this will protect your new fascias and soffits for many years to come.

Step 5

Step 5
Insert the soffit into the brick work and nail the soffit into the props.

Step 6

Step 6
Push the fascia up to the soffit so the lip of the fascia sits tightly against the soffit, then every prop will be double nailed.

Step 7

Step 7
The gutter brackets will be marked out every 80cm and will have a slight drop to ensure the gutters do not hold water.

Step 8

Step 8
Guttering will be clipped into place and the unions will be added to join the gutters together as well as the outlets and stop ends. Each house is different, therefore parts will vary.

Step 9

Step 9
Slide the 3 in 1 over fascia ventilation system under the cut felt, this will ventilate your roof space work as the missing felt and also stop birds from nesting.

Step 10

Step 10
We finish off by pulling down all the tiles and wiping all the new fascias, soffits and guttering with UPVC cleaner.

Step 11

Apex and Dry Verge
The apex will first be stripped all old wood and nails must come off.

Step 12

When the overhang of the tiles is to much the tiles must be cut down, soffit and fascia are filtted.

Step 13

Then both sides will have a box end fitted then fascia corners will be attached.

Step 14

We finish this off by fitting the dry verge these interlock with each other and get fixed with a 50mm screw in every one.
